The narrative is formed through interconnected and episodic tale about relationships that changes moods and style depending on the protagonist and it took me a while to get into some of their heads. The series further won a justified award and reminded me of her comparable Kano Hitoya Tsuki 8,5/10 which jumped less between protagonists and focused the perspective shifts on previous events.

I read up to latest scanlated chapter, ch4 or up to the second story (Act 2) so far. The art is undoubtedly superb. I also saw the raw and I see that this manga is richly told with about 5 stories, of which some characters' lives intertwined with another or others simply appear briefly.

From what I've seen (or understand) from the raw, there are 5 acts or rather what we may call arcs. *(Please correct me if I am mistaken anywhere here) *

Act 1 - Out of the 13 volumes, this is on volume 1. This is the story between students Yuma Mori and Suwa, and Kajima sensei. This is a quite melancholic unrequited love story but it was effectively told you'll finish reading it in no time. TBH, I don't particularly like the premise with Yuma but this a prelude to Kajima sensei's story.
Rating: 6 for the story, 7.5 for the pacing, 9 for the art (facial expressions are conveyed appropriately)

Act 2 - took up volume 2. This is an achingly touching story about Haruta Kazue, Seto Kanna, Mayama, and Asami. My heart went dokidoki on Mayama's guts and cleverness. Haruta is so sweet. Of course, my heart went dokidoki on his actions towards Kanna. This two guys are simply hot. Asami is slightly a bitch. She first broke what she said.
Rating: 9.5 for the story, 10 for the pacing, 10 for the art

Act 3 (volume 3) is the backstory of Kajima sensei and his fiancé.

Act 4 seems to take up volume 4-7 tackling on Mayama, the new girl, and a bit of Kanna.

Act 5 (volume 8-13) is a different story of classmates and childhood friends. The girl in Act 4 briefly appeared here.

I hope the scanlation will continue and finish this series.

I personally enjoyed the first two stories even if the first one was a bit odd at first. The second story with Maya, haruta etc got me to cry :/ really enjoying it and seeing that its 13 volumes long makes me really wanna read it

I see many negative and not-so-great reviews regarding Kiyoku Yawaku, and I must say, please please read the entire series before commenting, because this is one of those series where one must know all the "arcs" and different intertwining storylines to make sense of it!

Yes, the first book may not make much sense, but there are recurring characters throughout the series (namely, Kanna, Roku, and the deceased Haruta. This is the MAIN overarching story that encomes all the other side-character stories. It doesn't really make much sense until at least 5 or so books in when you start to see the major connections of the different characters. So until then, please reserve judgment based on just 1-2 books.

OK, so that little blurb aside, this is really a great series about unrequited love, about death, life, and the future. It's very "slice of life"-ish and it handles the effects of friends' death very delicately & well. But don't think it's a grim manga, it's not. It gives you great hope that life does indeed go on after tragedy and one can find true love. Yes, now I'm getting sappy here but give this one a try when it's scanlated further. It was a mega-hit in Japan so don't just base your decision to read this on a few reviews!

Can't read Japanese so I may change my vote in the future, but for now let me just say that I hated the first story. Cliche, boring, and predictable. Another one of those "My boyfriend doesn't arouse me, so I must be in love w/ the moody broody teacher" stories. As for the rest, while some of them were simple they still kept my interest.

But for now it gets:

ya it does... then they become a couple...however she still is interested in some one else... don't become a couple then bitch.... can see the end... after some drama it all gets fixed... ya not tat great.

First few volumes in I didn't immediately see the connection between the first arc and the rest of the story. The timeline was also a bit confusing too, mainly because the order of the arcs were quite strange, though it became easier to tell them apart depending on which of the two most recurring characters show up. The slight confusion while reading is probably the only reason why I knocked off a point. Otherwise, I have to say... Ikuemi Ryo does again what she always does, but does it well and as refreshing as usual. This story may hold some familiar themes with her other works, but it just feels so different.

Although there was a lot of chuckles along the way, there were also a lot of raw emotions that hit close to home for me, (Mayama's or Momoko's arcs for instance) that it was nearly impossible to read some of the stories without feeling a sharp pain in my chest.

I feel really nostalgic reading this manga, not only because the stories reminded me of things that I had experienced in the past, but also made me aware of the changes in my life in the present. And though I feel kind of sad that it's going to end soon, now that "Roku" and Kanna's arc have began to entertwine (around v10ish in the magazine), a part of me really can't help but feel a bit giddy about next month's chapter.
