Millions of years have ed since the times of legends, when the worlds of man and gods were still the same. In these times it was the desires of man that moved the world. This manga is pretty brilliant in showing how advance Qin was compare to pretty much everywhere else in the world. It was the 1st country to employed professional soldiers who could be slaves and peasants with no right and possession into nobles and royalty if they the army.
I can't say anything about historical accuracies though since most record of this period is more or less folklore or fictitious or political. However, Qin Shi Huang did became a King at the mere age of 13 and had to play puppet to his prime minister and his mother. He even had to call his prime minister 'honored father'. Once he became a real tyrant, he killed everyone as payback.
Shin was actually the most famous general of Qin along with some other generals.
My Current Fav manga
love the strategic battles which is being played both on Minds as well as Battlefield
we are able to see Shin's progress as he journeys from a mere foot soldier to a General which will unite all the Kingdoms under One rule (current China)
So tighten your seat belts and get ready for this roller-coaster of a Journey
Other than the art (not even that bad, just not my cup of tea), this is one of the best mangas I've read. It really brought me to tears. I rarely cry over character deaths, but this manga got me TT_TT. The ion and feelings of the characters feel very real to me, and that's something commendable that the author was able to do through kingdom. I felt a connection with shin and various other characters. Despite the fact that this is a historical manga, it still contains soo much action and thrill. Kingdom brings quite an interesting twist to the classic tale of Qin Shi Huang. This manga is also able to focus on relationships and war, giving a fair balance to both fronts. Though there are some flaws in the way characters think and act at times, it doesn't completely derail the manga. On the contrary, the characters are lively and great to read about. I THANK Hara Yasuhira for creating such a beautiful work.

One of the most amazing, intense and epic shounen mangas I've ever read in the last 10 years. Don't be put off by the art, or the unimpressive start, this manga simply gets better and better. Outstanding storytelling, pacing, and depiction of a wartime era. Give this a shot, get to 10-15 volumes, and you will be astounded.
And one more thing, Ouki is friggin' insane man. And others, I cant name them all, there are simply too many badass characters, it
s truly hard to describe.

The one thing thing that always ruins long running ( 10+ with no end in sight ) is pacing. So imagine an a couple of the usual cliches, with a sot of generic plot. Then add the authors amazing narrative style, artwork, and see how the generic plot and clichés transform into something truly astounding.
This is a half-fictional half-real story which fills us with historical facts and an imaginative world behind them. The grand army fighting scenes and ancient kingdom of China are portrayed vividly and uniquely. Being someone with quite a fascination for this country's history and culture, I have read all kind of books as well as comics about the topic, enough to say that this work certainly deserves praises. Well, there's a reason why it has 30 volumes as of this moment and is still ongoing due to its popularity.
Though it's clear that this is no accurate history lesson. It's highly exaggerating in every sense and every aspect of the word. In my opinion that's also exactly the best, if not second best thing about the historical manga. You shall have to research the actual events that had happened or about the actual people that existed in that era, while sitting back and enjoying how the mangaka turns them into a fresh interesting story.
(P.S.: For the person who commented before me, it's not the Three Kingdom period. It's the time of Qin Shi Huang, you know, the one who unified China and built the Great Wall and burned scholars alive)

The main character comes off as a bit shounen(ish) but he compensates for the badassery he displays in the battlefield
the story is the classic tale of 3 Kingdoms told from the point of view of a Fictional General named Shin and his conquest to become the Greatest General under the heaven and unify all of China
so far 300+ raw chapters are out there and i hope the translators keep on doing the wonderful job because this is one manga that deserves to be recognised
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
