The whole arc seems like filler, 'cause Kaiji was going with Kazuya so he could play a game against him but now they're doing something completely different. The game that's played here is very interesting, if only for the characters participating in it and their backstories, which make for neat side-plots. Again, though, all 10 volumes of this arc seem like filler to the main Kaiji plot, and aside from in-the-moment suspense, everything goes how you expect it to with a lot of asspulls near the end. The next part begins the actual game between Kaiji and Kazuya, so that should be fun.
