Brilliant and overachieving, Misaki Ayuzawa is the President of the Student Council at Seika High School, formerly a boys' school. Actually, now that I'm rereading the series, I can see how it's full of cliches. To be honest, I only read the series for Yukimura's sake (and later on when Kanou appears too.) Haha, maybe because I can't help but want to see Yukimura in awkward situations?

Main couple-wise, it's pretty obvious that they are going to get together, even if there are "rivals". I mean, the author pretty much established them as an OTP since like the first chapter, so basically we're just riding the story out... er... well the "story".

But still, it's something light to read. And... Yukimura, LOL.

This is a typical cliche high school shoujo with the bizarre plots that could only be authored by adults with too much free time. The space unoccupied by unrealistic plotlines is used by a series of repetitive cafe events.

The heroine's weak. Despite her iron rule, she submits to Usui instantly in any situation, then runs away from the relationship. However, she is the character with the most dimension. The other characters have completely flimsy motivations and fail to consider basic human realities.

The male lead is shallow. He has no personality (the heroine even describes him as "alien"), only a handsome appearance (which is unexceptional, considering every other character is equally pretty). Whenever he speaks (which is rare), it's driven by plot instead of personality. He's forceful for no reason at all. (assumes a position of rape frequently) He can cook. And that's the beginning and end of his hollow personality.

The feel-good messages are completely lost in this work. However, as a silly manga of detached courtship between the two leads, it's an alright read. If you can enjoy any romance-driven shoujo, you'll enjoy this as well.

out of words? or just lazy?

seriously, i don't know how to say how i REALLY enjoyed this manga. i can't believe i just read it though i keep seeing it on most 'lately popular manga'. wow! so a lot of people enjoyed it like i do, but i think i'm worse. i have my prelims ahead and i just can't stop reading until i'm deprived like you have to chain my whole body away from the pc. i seriously need some help out there. i usually comment on the plot, characters, art, impact and feel. but i just don't feel like it. out of words. simply, a manga that make me go crazy for it. anyway, if you're into anti-procrastination-and-hello-temptation then don't read or you're dragged to an impossible-to-break magnet imo. i enjoyed it!!!!!!!! super. i'm just lazy to comment more. i'll just give my thumbs up

i won't mind if you don't mind... i happen to be a president and that's just something i've become-you know barbaric tyrant to guys, defender of girls, divine feminist, and a man-hater to say. speak of not-having-a-big-brother complex, we're five girls and still it's really not enough to say that girls with similar situation as mine would end up like misaki. to experience something the protagonist is... is something that has given me the taste of reality the manga emanates. it's really different to experience it at hand and that's what has kept me reading.misaki is just the kind of person who endures. how long will she be protecting girls? me? i don't want to hold a responsibility any longer. resigned and succumb to being a mediocre. that's just the coward kaichou our school HAD.
is this really what i call out of words? tch! what an idiot! like hell i care..!

i should say.. dense people are simply not malicious. allowing malice to break down your wall is same as allowing yourself to fall in love... so misaki is just thinking of work to nullify the harassments that creates malice. a great strategy to avoid love?

Kinda Disapointing :(

It started out so good but the plot is started to drag and I've lost any fondness (and intrest) I have for the main characters. The Author is constantly introducing new characters and abandoning old ones without tying up any lose ends or making them connect properly to the story. Plus there are to many sub-plots that by the time I finish one sub-plot and the author takes me back to an older sub-plot, I've lost all intrest. I feel as if the Author is tring to cram 10 series into one story, which is really too bad because it could have been so good if the author had cut out all the random "misa helps with her friend's struggles" moments and focused on the relationship between misaki and usui and the inevitable throw-down with the creeper president from the other school. Honestly this story shouldn't have lasted more than 5 or 6 volumes (there's just not enough substance).

nice plot :)

this plot really reminds me of special a, with some differences. I like how the girl can take care of herself and how when usui's being idiotish his face looks really funny and he always teases yukimura- in that way usui's funnier than takishima in special a in my opinion. I think it's a really good manga overall 🙂

Maid-sama

I wish I could like this series. I really do. The art is good. I tend to love series made for female otaku, and this is one. I love the main character, who is the strongest and most irable shoujo heroine I've seen in recent manga. The yuri undercurrents in the maid shop and the yaoi undercurrents with Yukimura are great. And for the record, I love Yukimura. But I just can't make myself like this manga for the sole reason that is Usui. He's described as "the perfect guy" (mostly because he's good-looking and can cook), but he's anything but. He's constantly harrassing Misaki as if to make her act more feminine. He actually threatens to rape her once when she was acting too "butch lesbian" to remind her that she's actually a girl. Character traits that could work in a less-cliche story... but this is a character we're supposed to think is sexy. It's pretty disgusting.

But then, well, if you do think that kind of guy is sexy, then go ahead and read this manga. But only after you prepare yourself for a lifetime of misery.

I am so Mitsuki

Mitsuki isn't a squealy girl like a lot of shoujo heroines. She's tough, scolds a lot, and she has a bad memory (many shoujo heroines don't). Her father left her mother with a ton of debt, so she hates men. Now she's the school president of a school formerly a boy's school? Oh dear... She scolds them to snap back into shape, which is needed, but she is too harsh on them and not on the girls. Usui, the most handsome boy at school, who is a bit mischiveous (not too much) finds out about her job as a maid, and starts to come everyday. This story shows Mitsuki and Usui trying to keep her job a secret, and how they get to know each other. The art is really good, not to mention the comedy is nice, and the slowly progressed romance is nice. :3 However, a little drawn out... I still love it! 9 stars.

Loooooove it!!!

I love this series. But I have been wondering something. In the latest chapters, Misaki always gets nervous when Usui's around and even has kissed him. But I'm wondering is if she has realized that she is in love with Usui or is she just kissing him because she just feels helpless when Usui's around, but just doesn't know why? She has never itted to herself nor to Usui, that she is in love with him, yet. I hope she will soon.

Also, I wonder where Usui is going, since he said he only had "such little precious time" and what's he doing with that creepy president dude!?!?

I've read somewhere between the 2nd to 3rd volume. Don't cause its been awhile, I didn't even know what this manga was by the name. Its pretty crappy. I'm being plain and simple. It's cliche and crappy. I'm going to give it another try, and dropping it if it doesn't get any better.

This is a good manga with a strong main female character. I like the way the series has progressed. The story is simple, nice and not over dramatic. Plus, she's a maid! The art is nice too.
