Political turmoil: Old money nobles vs nouveau riche. Imperial family losing power. Old church vs New church
- Fighting against destiny (death, ‘true’ soulmates)
- Mysterious death before reincarnation
- Contract fiancé
- Obscure society of the wives of old nobles
- He falls first trope
- Slow burn romance
- Happy ending “I’ll find you in the next life”
THE CHARACTERS
🥀 Vivian Shamall: the female villainess from the ‘original’ story (before FL reincarnates). A woman who often chased the ML before but is now in line to be queen with an arranged marriage to the ML’s brother. Bullies the current FL but gets swept up in another’s plot and loses their life as a result.
🔔 Heika Demint: A petty (but actually very old) high priest with the appearance of a child: “I must let that primitive girl what an astonishing human I am”
❄️ Justin Shamall: A handsome, captain of the Royal guard, grown up in a life of privilege who seems to always be in a romantic drama with a woman already taken. Older brother to Vivian.
🔑 Beatrice: the ‘original’ FL with a secret, playing cards in the background and rarely appearing until the last few chapters - wishing to change her destiny.
⚔️ Adam Taylor: age 18. Knight from another place, and previously employed in the army but is now working for Duke Wynight. Famed for his skill and feared for his blood red eyes - a stoic knight with few words.
👑 Siathrich Chamers: current King. Half-brother to Noah (the ML). Has a limp after being poisoned by Noah’s mother. A somewhat meddlesome and talkative er of his brother. “Siathrich is 50% wise king but unfortunately, he’s also 40% prankster and 10% womaniser”
👒 Raeliana McMillan. The current FL:
- Guarded by a 18 yr old knight of few words (Adam Taylor)
- ive parents
- Aided by her past knowledge (eg, in maths)
- Smart, skilled in social interaction
- casual, exacerbated demeanour (from past life)
- Skilled with a gun
- Bickering/teasing ML with a smile
⚜️ Noah Wynknight. The ML:
cunning, a bit cavalier and teasing with a slight smile.
- Captain of the Public guard
- Curious about the FL and often shows his surprise at her actions
- Becomes more flustered and unsure of himself as plot develops
- ive to his brother as heir to throne
- Tragic past

It's significantly more charming than most other noblewoman Isekai. Both the male and female lead feel like actual characters, rather than just cardboard cutouts put in cute moments together. There's also interactions between other characters than just the main two so there can be comedic and dramatic moments not just focused on the two. The art is also incredibly consistent, there's rarely a that is rushed or sloppy. BUT! the world is tiny and every important plot development is forced then quickly forgotten about.
Raeliana hasn't met the Duke's personal assistant by the 99th chapter? No one questioned why Raeliana was unconscious for 10 days straight nor assumed it was related to poison or black magic? No one questions how Raeliana has a wide variety of knowledge and abilities she really shouldn't, like reading an ancient language fluently only three people in the whole continent know? Not a single person thinks Raeliana is especially different from before being possessed, including the family she has known her whole life? Why doesn't the Duke have any qualms or even comment on Raeliana being "kidnapped" by his brother and not allowed to leave for multiple days? Why do only certain emotions carry over, like Raeliana having a sibling's affection for Rosemary, yet no attachment to her parents? Why does the baron attempt to stab her and the baby prince through a closet door, but then not know they are in that closet until the prince makes noise? Why does Raeliana say she'll learn swordfighting, and then just never do that? Why does no one react when the High Priest takes off his seal in public despite them literally mentioning earlier in the chapter of he did so the public would swarm him? Why does Raeliana only stand up for herself when it won't get in the way of the current plot developments? Why do guns exclusively exist in the setting when Raeliana is thinking about them or shooting them? Why is Raeliana still getting picked on at tea parties despite having formed personal connections with the king, the head of the global religion, and a variety of other incredibly powerful and important people?
All these things seem like they should either be answered or not have been introduced as plot points in the first place. It's hard to feel invested when the worldbuilding is so shallow. I don't know if these are growing pains in the transition to webtoon or flaws in the original, but it's so frustrating! If it were only some I could it off, every series has plot holes to some degree but this series is chock-full of them and there only seems to be more the deeper you get! Augh.

Adam is probably one of my top 5 favorite side characters, and although he wasn't a love interest in this story, he can be my ML anytime. Anytime.
- the story has its own take on transference of souls
- refreshing lack of nobility fighting for the crown. Yeah there was some conniving nobles, but it wasn't actually necessary for the main plot. It was used to add pressure in some situations but the author could have come up with something else to serve as that pressure, so I never really felt like much mattered or was at stake there.
- the ML is playful and silly teasing
- the 2nd ML didn't really need to be in the 2ML role. Reasoning:
The ML was secure enough to not misunderstand and knew that Rae wouldn't do him dirty like that. 2ML never provided any real love rivalry. ML simply saw him as annoying, not as someone who could swoop away Rae. 2ML should have had a different connection to Rae since his main purpose was to be the brother of the red-herring villainess. 2ML was a decent enough guy (who could mature a little more), and I wish the author had used him differently.
- The king is so funny. He reacts to certain situations in the same way us readers do as observers.
- Some of the side characters seemed like they would be interesting and important, but were then not given enough screentime
- I love Adam, he deserves to be protected and cherished.
- What's up with men wanting to flaunt their kills to women? Rae obviously didn't like it. There's a reason why jokes exist about men who have a picture of them holding a fish they caught in their tinder profile.
Biggest annoyance: MC stressing about changing the story and the book's FL showing up and interfering with MC's romance.
- If you are ever transmigrated into a novel, don't worry so much about effing up the plot! The fact that a character is suddenly inhabited by you is enough to cause a cascade of changes that are not under ANYONE'S control. Anything you do differently that is seemingly innocuous could have a butterfly effect. It's not under your control and it's not fair TO YOU to feel responsible when you weren't an active participant in getting transmigrated.

I started this after watching the anime, coz i was curious about many things.... this webtoon answered them all and made it all better. Noah and Raeli..... i loved them so much!!! As i just finished reading, im just so emotional, im happy with the ending and specials. Loved this T_T <3
the character is shallow. and the plot is bland. some twist just dont makes sense
Don't you love it when the FL has common sense? She's not annoying and can handle her own. Problems don't drag on, and even when they do start they are not misunderstandings that drag on. The other characters are adorable and likable. I love the comedy in this Manhwa.
So, I started The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion over 4 years ago (wow, it's been SO LONG) and finished it a big while ago but just got to reviewing it :-D. I bought all the available English chapters, Korean physical volumes, Japanese physical volumes, English physical volumes, all the merch, and (now starting) Thai physical novel! I just love it so so much haha. First of all, Noah Wynknight is still on top of my ML list TT___TT. I seriously love this story so so much. I love how Raeliana's character was so independent and unique. Noah's cunning and playfulness LOLOLOL. Love how he's always teasing her but when it comes to being loving, he's over 100%. He trusts her enough to
risk his life . Like and ahhhh the ending, the ! "For now, we'll spend the rest of our lives living happily together. And a long time from now, after the goddess retrieves your spirit and prepares you for your next role, you will have forgotten everything. And in a world where you won't know me, I will go find you." gets me EVERYTIME. He's looking for her in EVERY SINGLE LIFE TIME LIKE HOW WILL I FIND A MAN LIKE THAT AHHH.

Hmm, let's see... I may be too generous with the rating but I did find this work enjoyable. I read this when it was completed because I saw the PV of the anime.
Raeliana is so chill, I ire her attitude towards the situations.
I found the plot twist unique when I read this:
Raeliana's original soul is in FL's body was a shocker to me.
Although the premise is not so unique, the execution was really good. It didn't bore me.
