As long as you're not like naikan, below, who considers something like a minor lapse in scanlator judgement (not anything that affects the storytelling, either!) enough to drop an entire series, and don't expect 100% historical accuracy (some of the facts are correct, some have been edited for dramatic effect and/or plot originality, and some are plain inaccurate, which is fine since this isn't a history textbook), Mozart wa Komoriuta wo Utawanai is a nice read for a mystery fan.

The plot is fairly intelligent, the characters are likeable, the art is watchable and somewhat unique, music and real historical characters have been incorporated into the mystery in a clever way, and the dialogues are witty and funny. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints.

The plot of the story caught my interest, but reading this manga was like listening to fingernails clawing at a chalkboard sort of painful. Not only was the art repetitive (as in, most of the characters had recycled facial expressions), but worse than that was the idea that people in 19th Century Austria would be calling each other "Sensei". Seriously, fire the person who thought leaving that word in Japanese would be cute. It's a shame because I do want to read this story.

i'm loving the mystery so far, especially how it draws from real events and speculations that people make about mozart's death. it's sort of a mini music history lesson for people who don't study it as much. one gripe i have about it though is how the mangaka makes it seem as if beethoven can still hear when it's pretty obvious that his hearing was deteriorating already by 1809. another is how young he looks, but i guess that's just the art style. i've only read volume one though, so i'm very excited how it continues.

It's a good detective story, with fascinating settings, classical music, and the historical references mixed with the fictional ones (all the gossip about Salieri, or Sirene, for instance. And the masonry) only makes it more interesting. Plus the characters are easy to root for.. Art is pleasant too.
Thanks for picking it, Entropy ^^

Ignore the history. Ignore the mystery. Ignore the musical references, and you'll be left with the good parts of the manga. At least it's got good art.

It's a must read I tell you! It doesn't matter if you dislike classical music or not but it's really cool!
