Not a bad story for a romance manga
by RS456

It's not really bad for a romance manga. A lot of romance manga have a lot of affairs and always moving from one person to the next. This didn't have too much of that and had a pretty stable relationship throughout most of the manga then during the middle of the series it went kind of haywire where the guy feels really empty moving from one girl to the next but it ended nicely.

Sae reunites with Takashi and moves in without asking him. Day by day and little by little he realized he no longer has the empty feeling he had since Sae left. He felt a little at loss when he thought she was going to leave him again. He finally realized he truly loved Sae when he was ready to get married to her when he thought she was pregnant without much hesitation. Sae also realized the one she truly loves is Takashi in the time she was away. She realized the time she spent with Takashi are the happiest days of her life and clearly indicated she wanted to continue that life.

Good in a sense

There are good things and bad things so it was a decent manga i guess. But one thing that stood out to me that made me like it was that it was realistic in a way. Not totatally otherwise he wouldnt have so much things happening to him but in the sense of relationships. I would expand on this however after several attempts i kinda failed at writing it down but basically it involves the ugly side of the relationship too.

One thing still bugs me about the main though

He cheated on his girlfriend (the first one) and yet when she broke up with him he didnt understand why. I cant exactly but he somehow didnt seem to understand that cheating was a bad thing and that just because he apologiesd to her that she should forgive him and go out with him again. To him cheating seems to be something as minor as being late to a date or something.
Moreover when he got dumped he took it out on the one he cheated with; sure shes partly at fault but its not like he was blame free either. It takes two to tangle afterall

Ugly and beautiful

That was what I thought love was. People fall in and out of love without ceremony, come and go without proper greetings and farewells. Loved ones drift away and new people enter life. The main character cheats and fumbles, betrays and is betrayed. It's frustrating and it's compelling.

It was great. Somewhat depressing, but in a good way.

Its not too bad...

There were some realistic moments in the story. For example, how the differences in age can make having a relationship difficult. How being in a relationship with someone with a child can be tough, because of limits of time and priorities. How guys can get a little obsessed with sex and treat women like just objects. How some people get into relationships more because they are lonely or afraid of being alone. How some women use sex to just get what they want. Many characters in this story use other characters because they are weak. This was all pretty decent and there's more to it and some decent character development. I also think the art wasn't too bad and most of the characters were differentiated enough by looks so you didn't feel like they all looked the same.

The last few volumes went by very fast and the last volume in particular felt rushed. I say this because it felt like Takashi had grown some from his experiences, but Sae did not. I thought that her character could have used some more growth. It is borderline-H because there's a ton of sex and fan service and while I don't mind some of this there was so much that I thought it detracted from the story. Again maybe a longer story with some more chapters that didn't have sex would have balanced it out. Like I said not too bad.

this bores me.. story never really clicked for me i always wanted to shoot everyone involved in the manga as characters.. i believe world would be a better place if all of them just disappeared i mean how come this many useless ppl come together is a big mystery for me. i managed to read some thirty odd chapters by grinding my teeth but its still a no go.. at the end i decided to just drop it no need to give myself a headache. the only thing that has been going for this manga for me was art.. but there is no way it can win over the stupidity of the characters.

Good but i dont like the ending

In general, i must say it pretty good. The story with Ami-chan really touch me. The main character good but no good =]].

Well, till vol 11, it seem like the author just want to make it end, so I think it too fast. get back with a girl in some last chapters and end. It seem very easily and it make me bore.

Really good. Really really good.

Some quick thoughts first:
I just read this series today and loved it. It's kinda depressing in that there are so many characters that experience love and get broken-hearted and, as i read this in one sitting and those events are still fresh, i come out of it with some melancholia. But it's also a great light read for happy romances...somehow. The age of time is something i had trouble grasping in this series, especially in the last two volumes.

I'll write more about it later.
Oh, and the yuri tag is kinda wrong. there are a couple of lesbian relationships but the main protagonist is a dude...so obviously the focus is on his heterosexual relationships.
EDIT: Mmmk. thinking about it more there are parts of this series that i don't think click well. His entire relationship with Nakazawa for one. Also It didn't seem like he ever truly got closure for his

first two, Sae and...Makoto (was that her name?) relationships...especially ! his first relationship with Sae, thus their reunion felt awkward However that might be the whole point of this series, how every serious relationship is still so fragile and will always be important to him. I'll refrain from expatiating on my brief analysis, though 😀 That's not what the comment should be about, really.
EDIT 2: Ok, a year after my last update and I've yet to see...any(?) male-targeted, romance-centric manga as good as this one. Hetakoi came close but was inferior. So, increasing the rating from 8.8.
Within it's genre, it deserves a higher rate.
With regards to manga as a whole, 8.8 is a good rating.

A lot of fun to read

Though I wrote fun, it was also depressing and even very eye opening. The story is a lot more realistic than most romance manga I've read. Maybe the ending isn't the most realistic based on chance but I have to say it was what I had hoped for. I feel like this manga has helped me realize a lot of thoughts and worries I wanted to avoid. Most stories I go through can be enjoyable or depressing but very rarely do you come across a story that really gets you going and makes you think about the future the way this did. There were times when I wanted to put it down but I wasn't able to, I don't know why or how but I did feel connected to this particular story. I hope you will enjoy this manga as much as I have.

Not yuri...

This was one of the first mangas I have ever read (First being Bitter Virgin)...This did not turn out to be a yuri as misleading as some might make it out to be. All the characters are likeable. The main protagonist starts out as someone immature but slowly grows throughout the story. The story is kind of slice of life that's why there are some parts that make you kind of mad at the protagonist. Fans of seinen will not be disappointed. The ending was satisfying enough. I was hopeful of what was going to happen, and the author delivered. Couldn't have asked for more.

An experience

God the main protagonist was one HELL of an annoying character for most of the series. I mean, he does all the crap you DO NOT WANT HIM TO DO. I mean, you root for one character, he'll do the other character. Like, it happens every single time.
The beginning 3 chapters had an absurd amount of ecchi for exposition, but whatevs. It settled into a pace soon enough.
The beginning was annoying as SHIT. Later on, it actually becomes enjoyable; all the time when the main character's dumped and alone and NOT screwing around seems to be the highpoint of the manga.
There's a good amount of above average characterization, from all the main characters, but few characters get their fill, for the most part.
The ending was fairly decent, actually. The last couple of chapters were very very fun, as all the evil and annoying shit and drama goes away as it settles in for a quiet, lovely ending. I was definitely satisfied the way it ended, although tis a shame we weren't able to see the reactions sae would get when sone tells her about all the shit that happened.

THE CLIFFHANGERS ARE EVIL. thank god I read all this crap after it was finished and scanlated. I would HATE to have had to wait days or weeks to see what would have happened.

Although some parts make you want to drop it, check out the ending. It was a decent read, and if it wasn't for the annoying shit this might have been a 8 or 8.5.
