Description

What title says, this series almost, to me, has nothing but good arts.

It doesn't have plot, it doesn't have good characters (beside their look), it doesn't have any clear direction of where it's going, it's not even a good slice of life. The "supernatural" stuff doesn't feel mystical or scary at all, in fact sometimes they're borderline moronic.

There's random occurence here and there, but they are random and disted, and add almost nothing to the "story".

theres too much fanservice in here. im okay with fanservice if its not shoved in your face but really every other page was about the girl's boobs/body.

the art is okay, and i guess the story is okay if you're okay with fanservice but it was a little boring.

the story evolve around a student named Niya and his ghost acquaintance Yuuko and the mystery about her death in addition the current ghost legend surrounding his school.

superb artwork, I hope someday they will make an anime version of it.

Yuuko looks like Senjougahara (from bakemonogatari)

i agree with kill-chan.. this is in no way a horror. it's a ghost story but not a horror... kind of like My Lovely Ghost KANA..
the romance and mystery is at a high school level. i'm not saying that it's shallow, rather that the mystery part of the manga is well made to follow the setting without loosing it focus on the comedy and romance side of a high schooler lives (hey if u expect ghost romance at the level where they have sex then go read My Lovely Ghost KANA... trying to think an example of a ghost romance with higher focus on mystery)

i got the feeling that the reason why yuuko still linger in that school is because people still think of her and wont let it go.. so it's them haunting her.. (kind of like the movie ghost town) and now there is a boy who love her and i don't think he will let her go.. maybe at the end he will...

No, really, jokes aside... 😛

The art is wonderful, fanservice is nice and bearable (actually this guy seems to put more detail in the legs more than anything else LOL ) but the story... mmmh ...

Let's say this looks like a poorly planned series to me. The harem is ok, all romantic implications are nice planned, but that's it.
Ok, there are some wannabe-scary moments but the characters seems to overreact too much over silly things ruining everything

Like, everytime that blonde Yuuko appears everyone is all about "Ahhh.. yuuko!" "ohh! Youuko" "OMG! Yuuuuuko!" ...
Ok, that's yuuko... so what? She's just a classmate, right? If you can't stand her just punch her in the face, wtf!

If you're into harem and romantic delusions, read this. However, don't expect too much from the horror side.

Really draws you in

Rating an unfinished manga always leaves me with a nagging feeling in the gut, but this time, I just couldn't help it. This manga is pure, liquid awesome. The atmosphere and individual stories really draws you in.

The mangaka really put in his effort to make the titular ghost maiden an interesting character. She is a character that truly could have been ripped out of an east asian horror story. Yuuko is no Casper. While she is certainly no villain, she is unlike the "cute ghosts" of other manga, that are ghosts in name alone and do not have any of the terrifying characteristics that people often associate with ghosts. No, the mangaka goes out of his way to constantly remind you that the protagonist is frequently in the company of a pale ghoul that only he can see, one that wishes to "remain with [him] for eternity ..."

To try and elaborate any further would only make this review tiresome to read. Just go take a stab at it.

I saw the horror tag on this series and ed it up for quite some time (mainly cause horror is hard for me to get in to). After being pressured by a friend I started reading it and oh jeez; I am damn glad I did. The two main characters are what has made me read every chapter out (ch. 15 as of writing). I like Teiichi because he is kind of a non-standard male lead. He is not abnormally stupid or smart. He doesn't have any ridiculous powers or anything like that. He just can see (and appearantly touch) Yuuko, the female lead who happens to be a ghost. I love the kind of romantic feel the two share (which is being slowly developed as the story goes on).

In chapters 13-15 many interesting developments happen. The story is now basically just short of a harem (both Yuuko and the two other female characters are interested in Teichii). It also seems that Yuuko did not really forget her past at all but more or less ignores it (out of sight, out of mind, and in this case; out of body). Seeing the second ghost which seems to be a darker mirror of Yuuko (and based on what the ghost says) has the next few chapters looking to be very interesting. All in all, this is a great manga and I am greatly looking forward to what happens with Teiichi and Yuuko's relationship after the current plot sequence ends. Will they grow closer or farther apart? Will the other female characters turn this in to a flat out harem (please I hope not). Either way, I eagerly await the next chapter.

This is the first manga ever (I've read thousands) to actually send shivers down my back. To be exact, it's two scenes, the first with Yuuko's past when she was still alive in the basement, and the second when we see the face of the evil ghost in detail in chapter 13 for the first time. Neither are scary, but the first one is kind of revolting and the second REALLY creepy. Very nice effects there, SPOILER if you compare Yuuki's usually gentle and beautiful appearance to this mad predating form of hers SPOILER.

Really, I can't decide wether to give this one a 8 or 9 rating, it's too good for an eight but it somehow can't decide wether to be unique or just another (albeit very good) mystery mainstream with attached horror, which is why I won't give it a 10.

This manga is extremely solid when it deals with the ongoing mystery of Yuuko and her mysterious death, but is somewhat disappointing when the chapter doesn't have Yuuko in the spotlight. Still, the manga has been very enjoyable for the chapters I've read.

The whole plot revolves around solving the mystery of Yuuko's death in a school strangely known for its many mysteries. Another big plot point is how Yuuko shows affection to Niiya, and he does the same. Recently the club got a new member who can see Yuuko, although she is afraid of her. This new character is welcome, but really doesn't add anything to the plot, aside from the awe-inspiring chapters 5-7.

Also, another thing that the manga stabs at often is how no matter how Niiya seems to like Yuuko, and how much Yuuko seems to want Niiya, the reality is that she can't even leave the school and she's not a real "person". Granted, Yuuko is tangible and visible(only to Niiya/new girl though) but they will have to be separated from each other at some point. This can be seen in the latest chapter, where summer vacation is here and Yuuko won't be able to see Niiya unless he visits the school.

This isn't really that scary, and it's not entirely creepy. Its more mystery than horror, but it does count as horror because of the atmosphere the mangaka puts the characters in. But theres comic relief so it lightens a mood a bit.
As for chapters, the first chapter was only published as a one shot in 2008 in Gangan Powered. Then it released in Gangan joker 2009 summer and continued from then.
To be honest the story isn't extremely concrete. The story line is a bit weak at times but either way its a good manga to read. 🙂
