I loved this manga to death. LOVED. It was my first manga series ever, but Hino has created a tragedy to all Vampire Knight fans.
The Plot
The plot at the beginning was pretty damn good. It had the right amount of suspense and mystery and the romance was developing not to fast but a little slow, which was great. There was action and scenes that made me blush. Oh those Zeki Scenes However, and I'm very certain that everyone will agree with me here, everything went downhill when
Yuuki, the vampire gal, went to live with her brother, Kaname
After that some mysteries were cleared up, other mysteries were brought up and the manga told me things that I shouldn't and didn't even want to know. It was a bunch of irrelevant information. Nothing interesting happened between I think Chapters 40 to Chapter 60 or 70. Except
They had that ball, an event that had so much potential, but even then nothing interesting happened.
Then when things start to pick up when
Yuuki started the Night Class again but it was just confusing and I had to reread some chapters just to understand what was going on and who did what.
It then began to get interesting when ! they had that ball and Zero and Yuuki kissed I loved that chapter so much.
Then IT happened, it changed EVERYTHING ! Yuuki erased Zero's memory of her and was 'deflowered' by Kaname in Chapter 89. I know a lot of people loved it or hated it, like me, because I'm a fan of Zeki.
It's picking up now, but it's still kinda boring and confusing.
The Characters
Yuuki, used to be my favourite shoujo lead, but her actions just disappoint me now. Before she was all confident and brave, protecting the ones she loved and you would think when
she turned into a vampire she would only get more stronger, right? WRONG. She becomes a too dependant on Kaname and on other vampires. I also hate how she complicates things for herself, especially with the Kaname and Zero feels.
Kaname was the perfect and ideal guy in the beginning, who hid a lot of secrets. However as the story progressed he got darker and more sinister and my image of this sweet and kind guy disappeared. I grown to hate him so much. In my opinion
he abandoned Yuuki which is just sad. I can't really complain about him though, he keeps the story interesting I guess...
Zero, I love you so much. He's the types of characters you just feel sorry for all the time because nothing good ever happens to him. He's emo-like and very sad but uber sexy at the same time. He''s strong and determined that's for sure, telling Yuuki
that the next time he sees her he will kill her after she turns into a vampire I ship ZeroxYuuki deal with it.
Other than that there weren't really any memorable characters other than the Chairman, who let's it it is only there for comedic relief.
The Art
The art was superbly beautiful in the beginning but then Hino got lazy and in recent chapters, her art isn't as detailed and the characters lack any type of emotion, but nevertheless it's still good, it's just that it's not as great as it used to be.
Overall
This manga has gone downhill which really upsets me ;(
It doesn't have that feeling any more, that feeling when you get when you read each chapter.
I recommend this to shoujo lovers and people willing to skip a few boring chapters. ZEKI FOREVER!
