I'm the [insert a lameass title]

When the world fell to ruin according to the VR game he knows everything about, there were 0 people the MC cared about enough to even phone them and provide basic instruction. There is something fundamentally wrong about him. I haven't read much, but the MC is so unlikable I feel bad every time he succeeds at something.

Why should I root for someone whose only desire is to rule over the world or something ? It isn't entirely clear, but it seems he just aims at becoming the strongest and hogging all the prizes for the sake of it. We get no justification as to why he needs to hog all the perks. If the options are world destruction or everyone being under the boot of the MC, it is unclear which is worse. I'm rooting for a third party.

Currently read until chapter 105.

A good time, not very deep. Gets a little more interesting around like, chapter 50? I thorough self-insert power fantasy. The mc is a little annoying, oscillating between seeming completely heartless and then seeming like he maybe cares then appearing heartless again. He does seem to be loyal to his subordinates and comrades though, even when he takes advantage of them he always protects them. Exploitative mc's are not my cup of tea, so the fact that he sometimes takes care of his subordinates is the only way I can make it through those parts hahaha. I like the artstyle, the plot (to a point), but I think the character development is where its lacking. Regardless, I will probably go back and read this when it finishes or gets to chapter 200 or something and I can binge read it again. They move up the tower incredibly slowly but I've never been bothered by that, and I actually even like it (though it does make me worry that it will never finish lol).

The main character does what he wants. He plans ahead and does everything at his own pace, always leaving the competition a few steps behind in his schemes. No-one will fully comprehend all that he's up to in the heat of the moment, but he'll ultimately resolve everything in a way most favorable to himself.

Also, Alice is wonderful. Not only is she cute, she's the perfect companion for Kang Jinhyeok - her outlandish behavior keeping pace with his own. They make a wonderful duo of troublemakers.

I don't get it: why are stories starting to show up that try and make sociopathic, psychopathic, antisocial, etc. behavior look like a good or desirable thing? Like it's something that more people should have?

The MC (main character) is dismissive of human life, petty, vengeful, refuses to see the good in anyone while projecting his own selfish behavior onto everyone he meets, and would rather thousands die instead of let people know how to survive when the system is literally set up to have as many people survive as possible (encouraging people to make good tutorials by rewarding them).

And the story is just cynical enough to try and justify everything the MC does, as if such inhumane behavior is righteous. As a result, other characters have to be incredibly unbelievable and stupid just to try and make it look like it works.

This one's a hard , which is too bad for the artist and character designs; they would be decent to have in a better story.

it loses its plot after some chapters pointless fighting, goes nowhere

Ok, we all know the setting of “something made the game that I’m #1 reality”, alright, all fine and dandy so far, but… why is anything in the story happening? Why is our mc climbing the tower? Why should we as a reader care about him? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love stories when the mc is a psychopath, but they must have some sort of motivation as twisted as it might be.

Climbing the tower for the sake of climbing the tower? Then again, he is the #1 player, the only one to clear the whole thing but then I ask, is he doing it just because he can? He certainly doesn’t care if humanity perishes, what is the difference of the world against his vr game?

Basically, the mc seems boring and generic, nothing sets him apart and shows no motivation to do much. He’s not surprised by the apocalypse nor is he questioning his role in this whole debacle.

The zero to… “Hero” happens literally in one second, sorry. This isn’t for me and/or maybe you as well.

I'm a sucker for tower genre manhwas. Most are extremely cliche but I'm thoroughly enjoying this one. The MC isn't a pushover, as far as I've seen, and actually deals with annoying people. The sociopath tag fits him extremely well as he uses people to his advantage in order to progress. I absolutely love that about him. To add, Kang Jinhyeok is obviously OP but not in the way that he gets everything handed to him; he has a lot of prior knowledge of the game to back up his progress in getting as strong as he is. He WAS the only person to beat the game before it became the real deal. It’s also shown that there’s things he doesn't yet know about the tower and is eager to learn what those are, as am I. It’ll mean he’ll face challenges in the future, hopefully. I mean there is only 77 Chapters so far (at the time of this comment), it’s only the beginning. Otherwise my rating shall go down, I want to see him struggle and sweat his balls off trying to figure out certain aspects of the tower.

To those comparing it to Solo Leveling, that’s inevitable seeing as that series is extremely popular, but the only thing similar about them is that they share the same category in the Tower & Leveling up System as do many other manhwas. Otherwise, the plots are completely different.

Anyways; amazing read, and great artwork. I’m having fun reading it. Love it. If this type of genre isn't for you, or the plot isn’t your cup of tea, I recommend not reading it. We all have preferences.

Apparently playing a vr game for long enough means you become a sociopath with no regard for the lives of others, and that tag certainly fits the MC as he sacrifices others on his selfish quest to solo the tower, paying no heed to the fact that if it isn’t conquered in three months humanity will perish.

Dropped immediately after the MC got two harmless characters killed, seemingly on purpose, as I can’t see myself caring about this shithead. And he started out so well, too.

This is SL plot for plot, just plain plagiarism, forget it being a mere clone. The only "major" differences I found are the differente world building, different main plot, and different mc personality. I came back for this after dropping it just because I saw the 7 rating, completely wrong here.
