Hello everyone, 53421n

I’m looking for some games that have a similar art style to manga or anime. I really enjoy games with Japanese-style character designs, bright and lively visuals, and rich, captivating storylines. If the game has RPG or adventure elements, that would be even better. 101 games

Some of the games I’ve played and really liked include:

•Ni no Kuni: I love the colorful world and the feeling of stepping into a Studio Ghibli movie.
•Dragon Ball FighterZ: The graphics of the game are just like watching an episode of the Dragon Ball anime.

Can you suggest any other similar games or any game you think has a comic book style? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Chrono Trigger, Blue Dragon or any of the Dragon Quest games (Character design by TORIYAMA Akira).
The Tales video game series by Bandai Namco starting with Tales of Phantasia(1995) also has a very manga/anime like artstyle. Heck, at least five of the games in the series have actual anime adaptations. And like 10 or so manga adaptations.

I enjoyed Atelier Ryza for some time. Got 3 installments and I kinda quietly dropped it at the 3rd one to play other stuff, since I had binged the other 2. Who knows, maybe I will pick it up later. Got a colorful world much like Ni no Kuni. Wouldn't say the storyline is anything special, a very chill game. Just your average JRPG level, power of friendship and all that, but I do recall it being visually very comfy.

I can think of a few that might fit that style. most of them are cel shaded but some are not.

  • el shaddai: ascension of the metatron
  • Any of the Rune Factory games (they all have that kind of bright manga look/feel to them with multiple story arcs etc.)
  • DBZ Xenoverse 1 & 2 (they both are probably the closest of the choices I can think of here in of what you're looking for)
  • Dragon Quest Treasures (action rpg, big open world, bright and comic book feeling, delightful Japanese voice acting. Just overall good wholesome fun)

Hope some of these interest you.
