So like, does Takeru stay sexist? I right at the beginning he is full on "Girls shouldn't fight!" and "Men should protect Women!", interfering with duels and all just because it's male vs female and... Oh so irritating. Does he stay that way or does he become less sexist as the story progresses? 1n3433
Each time I try reading this story I get put off by how blatantly sexist he is -_-"...

Believing it was a man's duty to protect a woman regardless of who she was would be chivalry.
Believing that all women are weaker than men and need men to protect them is sexist.
It's a thin line, and Takeru leans further to the sexist side than the chivalrous one.

well it's not really a thin line. they're in essence the same thing. why is it men's duty to protect women? because they are weak and need protection. you are just leaving out the reasoning and putting it in a nice way.
chivalric behaviour as many people understand it is from when people were extremely sexist, and it reflects that.
of course, there are tons of women out there who dont mind the benevolent type of sexism.
i think we've derailed from the topic long enough. i myself havent read this manga so i have no idea.
japan is really sexist tho and there are tons of authors who write characters like this. from my experience they dont really change as the story progresses

Yeah, there are so so many manga / light novels out there with characters pushing male superiority in my face and it just bothers me so much -_-"... That's why I actually have to ask if they stay that way when I come across them. So much out there to read with entertainment giving me a slap in the face left and right.

Is it the belief that women are weak, or that men are generally stronger?
(and honestly, the whole idea that it is offensive when someone insists on protecting you, regardless of their reasoning, is ridiculous.)
Takeru saw a man practically kill his mother (a strong fighter) as a child. That left a scar in him. He does not want to see women get hurt - regardless of how strong they are. He believes that it should be a man's duty to be the meat shield than let harm fall upon a female.
Benevolent sexism or not, I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Well, what you call "Benevolent sexism" is in my opinion "quite annoying."
The problem with what he did was he interfered in a fight between 2 consenting parties and gave an unfair advantage to one party, without either parties consent.

Note how you only mention one occurrence of that happening...because it only happened once.
The manga has had the girls fighting each other without any of Takeru's interruption for a long time now.

I am going to have to agree with Scyfon here. The aggressive stance against Takeru is a bit much. It's one thing to be annoyed by an "overly protective to the point of absurdism" character, but he doesn't quite fit that description.
I found myself identifying very much with Takeru's stance. Emotionally, I can't bear to see a female in pain without doing something about it. It's not from some "girls are weaker than boys" stance either.
That being said, I watch womens MMA. I have enjoyed watching womens Boxing as well. It's not sexism to want to protect.
Sexist prejudism is what you are describing and I find it a little misplaced in this situation. He's not walking around spouting that a womans place is to be in the kitchen, or to be a to their male partner.

.... Then why didn't you just say that in the first place? The entire point of this thread was to find out whether or not he keeps having sexist motives and actions. Thank you for letting me know.
