In reality, people (generally) bullshit these polls. They usually vote for the two extreme ends, even though (sometimes) the poll operators can PROVE that such results are literally impossible. (Imagine how embarrassing it would be if lambchopsil made a news post with the poll results saying "Man look at all these idiots who voted for 2004. The site wasn't even up in 2004, it was started in 2005! trololololo")

I wish I had thought ahead and tried that, but alas, it's too late.

I started using the site sometime in 2007 and ed several months later at the end of that year. I used to make my own spreadsheets of information about manga I wanted to read, and came here for info... hard to believe I actually used to do that. MU's information database was obviously much better, so after a while, I gave up on my spreadsheets and switched to filling out missing info in the database here. I loved it, and the rest is history. Compared to what I know now, though, I knew so little about manga when I first ed that it's embarrassing. I was so uptight back then, too... apologies to all who put up with my nonsense. Well anyway, happy early birthday, MU~ 🙂

Started lurking 'round 2006 or 2007. No recollection on how I got here or even why, exactly... Perhaps I was hunting for releases of Inuyasha since I'd caught up with VIZ's English publications. That would seem a likely answer.

Took me a long while to harness my limited powers of "bother to do shit" to actually create an .

I first started coming to this website in 2010 to read the reviews about mangas before I blindly read them and it took me quite a while to actually sign up. I eventually signed up in early 2011 but funny story is, I eventually forgot about the site and incidentally forgot my name/ and the email I used to sign up with so I created this . So basically, I have a second inactive lurking around here somewhere.... lol.

But if it makes you happy to win on the internet, have at it.

I've created my last or this year but I've been on MU lurking around for like 4 years, I believe. It's most definitely cannot be more than that >_<. At first, I didn't know there was a forum and didn't know how to use it. I just use google and type "mangaupdate for _____" I was so slow at things hahahhaha xD

  1. I think I used the site a bit longer than that though. Just checked the ratings instead of keeping a list. Though I haven't read anything in over a year anyway.

I first saw the site in 2004 and never created an . just used it to find new manga to read. then my life sped up and i forgot about it sometime in 2005ish. rediscovered in 2011 and bookmarked and made an so i never committed the sin of forgetting it again. -the end-

2005 or 2006 based on a comment I made on another forum in 2006. I didn't start keeping a list until around 2007-2008. This 's from 2009, I can't the handle of the old one but I didn't make any posts at that time. I can't believe it's been so long...

I really find that hard to believe, seeing as (as far as I ) you've never been able to actually any manga chapters from MU...

Technicalities matter, ya know.

**Edit: Well, I guess that is what I get for trying to be clever when tired and feverish. Sorry about the partially incoherent ramblings. I did actually have a point, but didn't communicate it properly.

TL DR: Yes, once upon a time there were DL links here. However, they were gone before 2011.**

I think on "releases" on the right side sometimes there was a "DL" or "DDL" link. I never used those so don't know how they worked.

Actually, yes, you were able to.

Yes, but they always linked outside of MU itself. It was a little bit of legal horseplay to make sure that whatever happens, it was not MU that could be accused of violating some kind of copyright laws. All of 'em were hosted somewhere else. ( Note that I'm not 100% certain on this, so feel free to correct me if you know better.)

Like I said, technicalities matter. I'm being rather pedantic here, but it comes with the territory of having several lawyers in the family 🤣

Edit: To clarify. The pedantry in this post is for the sake of technicality, or just because. In my first post, I had actually forgotten those long gone DL links, which were no longer around in 2011, unless I'm horribly mistaken about that.

**Double edit: Well, I guess that is what I get for trying to be clever when tired and feverish. Sorry about the partially incoherent ramblings. I did actually have a point, but didn't communicate it properly.

I have no idea what you're saying. Because MU used to link the DL to an external server you're arguing that when hartato clicked that DL link and clicked "Save" to my folder = she didn't it from MU?

😕

As far as I'm concerned I used to dl some chapters from MU's torrent too.

edit// btw this was back in 2006-2007 when I used to lurk animeupdates too 🙄
