We are allowing MangaLator as a group as they have the translations and the images all on the same page and it's easily available for anyone to read. It's a step below an actual scanlation, but we're still permitting it

May I suggest a group filter then? I don't like to see their releases on my lists and I would like to filter them out. I already had to drop a series because I was waiting for scanlations and then that suddenly appeared... I honestly tried, but I can't stand reading it like that... =/

You can block a groups release in their group information page.

I guess I don't understand what that filter does, because a series in my reading list still shows up as having a new release by them. Is there a way to filter them so that I don't get the orange new chapter indicator on my reading list?

Frankly I wish MU wouldn't track them, they're not a real release. They might be "a" step below actual scanlation, but to put it another way, they're only step up from somebody posting a text translation next to a raw on 4chan.

agree with KuoVell: Mangalator is way off being a release group and having them in the "my Lists" is extremely annoying. Please give us the chance to filter them.

Agree with KouVell and Muto, please let us filter them better or let us know if there's a way to do so.

I'm with them too on this matter.

Otherwise a zip/rar file with raw and translation txt is fine too. That's also a step below an actual scanlation. 😉

Well, I guess I'm just going to go ahead and drop everything I'm reading that's being "released" by mangalator. Obviously since MU can't even be bothered to say anything about this they're perfectly happy having that garbage mess up our reading lists.

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous.

It's one thing if Mangaupdates s came in and at least said no or opened up the field for a discussion.

But no one is gracing us with their presence, just amounting to us bitching and dropping series.

I also came here to see if there was any update regarding this situation. Everyone would be pleased if the s said anything about this (either allowing, not allowing, opening up for voting/discussion...).

(I also dropped a few series... It's sad)

If I may suggest something - instead of dropping the series, why don't you just move them to a custom list and turn off showing new chapters there? Just as a temporary measure before the matter gets resolved...
I know you won't be notified of scanlation releases either, but it should be slightly better than deleting these series from your lists.

That's pretty much what I've been doing. Moving them to the unfinished list, "on going translation" list... It still counts as dropped for me, since I was reading them and I had to stop xD At least, for now, while we don't have any news regarding this...

I have done this as well, but this shouldn't be the end of this. It's a stopgap measure for a problem that the community would like to hear some discourse from the mods on. Several s have put forth arguments as to how Mangalator may or may not fall under MU's definition of scanlators, and it is kind of insulting that it's just being ignored.

If only we were a democracy. The overwhelming attitude of the community seems to be against Mangalator.

Do you guys realize that the 2nd post in this thread is me saying that we're allowing it?
