If I want to get my hands on manga, I'd need to order them online. My people are not very much exposed to manga culture, AFAIK. Anime is also not very popular, and even then only the repulsive English dubs get through. >:-(

There's only one bookstore as far as i know it which have manga which nearly have monopoly on books business in the country.
Their selection of manga tend to be lacking as they mainly have popular manga like one piece, fairy tail, etc.
But they don't have tokyo ghoul and many other i likes possibly beacuse they are a bit gorey.
Also not a single light novel because they don't sell well >.<

I don't know where you live, but if your bookstore is able to get the popular titles maybe they can also order copies of the titles you are interested in. I know bookstores in the US will accept special-orders of anything in print (and preorders), at no extra cost to the customer. Then you're guaranteed to get your book, and you'll know no one else read the copy and got it messy before you. This is also a way to let the bookstore know that they should carry more titles to sell to readers like you.

More interesting would be to know the prices of manga in different countries. Manga in english cost around 14$ (according to the currency converter) most of which is probably shipping cost for the stores. The once printed locally go for around 3,5$. But only the big ones get translated here like DB and Naruto. A pity, I wouldnt mind paying 3,5$.14$ is a bit too much ...

A few years ago, manga in the US was $10 a book on average for retail, I think it's higher than that now but only by $1-2. I know Yen Press sells as high as $14 on average because I think they're higher quality.

If you buy one volume off of amazon, you'd have to ship for 3.99 in america so it would be $14 I suppose. If you buy in store you don't need to pay the shipping.

I mostly buy manga online at specialty stores and sales so I avoid dishing out $10 a book and I buy in bulk so I don't need to pay shipping.

Also recently I checked out Viz's site and they listed their digital manga around/over $6 but I recently bought new manga for about $6 a book. I'm not buying into digital when I could buy manga for the same price.

How available is published manga in your **native language **and/or country?

For me, they're available in most major book stores (although I personally never use them). I'm able to buy most books directly from a Japanese retailer and have it shipped directly to the store at no extra cost (if it's not available in the store). Anything I can't get from them I buy online. Shipping is always crazy, but importing isn't supposed to be cheap.

Err...how would you decide a country's native language? English is definitely not native to the US but it is the one to use as Portugese is not native to Brazil but it is again the one to use... Also the poll is asking about the availability of manga, not if it's in the language of the country it's published in.

Anyway, I'm from the US so manga published in English is available in most major book stores, though as someone with more than one native language, I'd also have to say that there are no publications/scanlations of manga in my other language anywhere.

I feel bad for anyone who doesn't have manga in most major book stores. I buy my books for all over my city. ANYWHERE that sells books.

As a resident of the U.S. there are plenty of places to get manga, but the only one I know of locally is the Barnes and Noble, which has a few titles and a novel or two.
