9 Volumes (Complete)

The premise is interesting, and it does a good job at maintaining continuity and consistency, but there are a few tone shifts in the story that change the overall lighthearted mood, which feel like a rush to drive the series to a conclusion.
So the start of this is just really great.
Basically the premise is...well I just read the below comment and he's spot on. She can at best examine a body visually, gather what clues/symptoms she can, and try to work backwards.
You can tell the mangaka is grabbing whatever ideas of causes of death he can to make it believable for his story, but hey, it works
Then, unfortunately, we're introduced to our first major antagonist. And basically, though this person had potential, I mostly ended up REALLY annoyed most times the antagonist came into focus.
thankfully in recent chapters it's once again absolutely peak.
When I read the first 10 or 20 chapters, I thought this was at LEAST a 9/10.
Later chapters felt more like a 7-ish ir even 6. But the last few are again 9 or 10/10.
I guess for now I'll rate it an 8.5?
I'm looking forward to reading the mangaka's previous work, now!
Oh also the art in this is GREAT. I love the character designs, too, especially our lead. She's just great. She's not especially intelligent, like you'd expect from a detective series, but she is very determined and channels that into studies relevant to saving lives.
There's some yuri-bait, occasionally, though tbh I don't expect it go anywhere unless this series runs for another 4 years at least, and maybe not even then. The story is very devoted to its premise and examining the characters.
This series is also unusual in that half of our hero's 'allies' are straight up sociopaths or psychopaths. You wouldn't expect that in a series about saving lives.

This synopsis really undersells the plot by not giving enough information. The story is about a girl who can predict people's deaths and then tries to prevent them. She warns the victims, but then successfully prevents their deaths, making her look like a liar. The whole thing is sort of a reverse murder mystery, where she's solving how people are going to die by connecting evidence with her vision. A really great premise, definitely give it a try.
