Not the best manhua out there, but still worth a read if you like intricate plot and complex characters. Although some character, I felt needed better endings due to their struggles and what happened to them.
I felt especially sorry for her "step-brother". he deserves love and a better future. That shitty ex-emperor is a disgusting rapist and pedo! deseves more torture compared to an easy death. he needs to bleed for eternity in his own poop for all the disgusting and shitty things he's done. Truely trash!!!!
As for the male lead, he's a green forest! I loved that he respected and loved Female Lead.
the ending with them being together was worth it.
Note: Romance isn't a big part of this plot. it was mostly focused on palace plot and human emotions when faced with greed. I state this isn't for the faint heart because it includes a child predator (in the story) and rape. I had no idea this was in the story and would like to warn people before they dive into this.
