Surprisingly heavy emotions

100% expected this to be straight-up porn, but it's extremely viscerally emotional. The facial expressions are so well-drawn and precise to the characters' emotions....it was heart-wrenching. Also, it is extremely erotic. 👌

Anything but bland

This manga doesn't hold back. The comedic moments are hilarious, the emotional moments are intense, the intimate moments are hot, the pacing can go from zero to a hundred, and the shounenisque art style knows how to be impactful and over the top in all the right places. At least you don't get "same face syndrome" with this one. I personally really liked the art.

What's more, despite it being about

a man who wants to be loved like a woman , and a younger looking fresh face bottom, he didn't feel like a shoujo girl reskinned as a man. It's hard to explain, so maybe it's just me, but he did not feel like a female stand-in (even the manliest looking bottoms in yaoi men can fall into this trap).

What a breath of fresh air in a genre that tends to rely on a formula. It's not easy to follow the formula and still stand out.

wild art and soap opera dramatics

this almost felt like a baz luhrman film. LOL

the art and wild pacing coupled with the overly dramatic plot and developments really made me turn my brain off to enjoy this, but I still think, at heart, this is a great piece, especially for a first time serialization.

the plot is very basic and very idealistic. nothing new to swat at. what really set this apart is the art and style, tho. I'm almost reminded of the style of Zakk in Canis or even NyaNya. There is a really comic property to the art that really cranks the drama up to 11. It kinda falls comicly flat in of a classic romance story, but I can see a whole lot of potential. This mangaka's art is not quiet at all, so I think I'd much rather see this mangaka take on a moody buddy cop type detective story or even a yakuza romance. I could see this mangaka doing something with horror or the supernatural as well. I actually want this mangaka to team up with Nishida Higashi and illustrate her wild ass stories, haha.

the smut scenes are GOD TIER. looking forward to more from this mangaka!

Unusual to say the least

Well this manga sure was a wild ride from start to finish, not so much because of the plot but mostly due to its presentation and particularly its art style. The comedic effects of the first chapter were greatly amplified thanks to it, but I feel like when it comes to drama the over-the-top-ness kinda messed with the general tone of the story in far too quick a pace, causing the flow to become pretty uneven especially in the middle. The atmosphere was whiplashed from one scene to another in a matter of mere s without proper transitioning, resulting in a kind of jarring mood change that readers were sort of forced into rather than gradually prepared for. Still, the message that this manga wanted to convey is quite noble in itself and I'm sure many people will appreciate it thanks to the LGBT discourse alone, so that's something to look out for if you're into that.
Frankly speaking this mangaka's style isn't necessarily my favourite, but it's not the worst and still way better than one that's a dull and completely devoid of personality.

i got catfished by comedy and caught feelings instead

Rating: 8.5  / 10.0

my feelings are basically as the tin says ^^^ LOOOOL. i was looking for comedy and got catfished into catching feels /o\

triggers/warnings/kinks (in order of appearance)

-catfishing
-infantilism/baby play, but this is played up for the lulz and not done seriously
-sex toys, specifically dildos (and they're like......accidental/surprise dildos LMAO)
-~10 year age gap (but it is not related to the infantilism at all tybg)
-the top, because of his job, has sex with a woman
-homophobia, internalized homophobia, microaggressions
-sexy/oil massage
-the bottom loses his v-card

and, for the record, everything is blessedly CONSENSUAL despite the initial set up of the story!! ;w;

i was confused by the summary, so instead i'd describe the story more like this: a callboy whose company serves women gets catfished into servicing a man. the customer, bless his soul, accidentally asks for the weirdest fuckin package available. and then feels happen jlkfadskljdfsjlfsdaljk

it truly does start as comedy. their first encounter is filled with misunderstandings and though it plays out really, really weird it's hilarious to read. their next encounter is a result of more misunderstandings and weird hilarity. as the story progresses though, we learn more and more about each characters' backgrounds, and how they ended up where they did. this is where the feels trapped me /);w;(\ as the story heads towards its climax and resolution, there is something incredibly raw and tender about the way they fall in love.

the running scene in chapter five. mark my words: the running scene in chapter five.

the fact that it's a single volume means it can't bring as much depth as other mangas do bc it's pulling together comedy, smut, and drama into a cohesive story, but i will give it props for weaving these genres together successfully despite how short it was. the ending is rushed and played for hilarity, but i thought it was ultimately satisfying.

on a technical note, the art is beautiful and really easy to follow. though there's much more tone and colouring than most manga, i can still appreciate the style that sensei was going for. i tend to disagree with the "atypical art style" tag bc the art style is typical of manga, though i suppose when the story gets deeply serious or extremely comedic the art looks more suited to shounen > yaoi/BL. the character designs aren't youthful faced bishounen, nor do they have muscular/athletic body types, and sometimes they're reminiscent of western cartoon/comic styles, but they're attractive nonetheless. the entire book's aesthetic is right up my alley and the porn is 👌👌👌👌👌 though short for my taste lol.

overall, i really enjoyed the manga despite what i was initially looking for~!
