The author did not do the research. That says it all.
The story tries to take a very realistic, true-to-life grimdark storytelling approach to the situations/atmosphere/time periods but does so in an over-the-top manner that exaggerates the stereotypes of the period. Since the story bounces between characters/scenarios so often, theres no development whatsoever either which creates a very shallow, "monster of the week" feel to the whole thing.
The story is fairly well told but I don't think it has anything to say. I suspect it's a roundabout way of the author letting out his guro-lite fetishes under the cover of plot - there's a lot of contrived rape scenes and torture-porn. I guess it's extreme, but it didn't get any reaction from me. I feel absolutely no sympathy for either of the protagonists - they're one-note characters. And hey - if she doesn't care that she's getting raped, why should I?
It wasn't that bad while reading it, but in retrospect it's pretty much complete trash. It has some interesting elements - the plot is pretty firm, really - but the characters and frequent attempts at porn just left me bored.
I guess there's the possibility that it wasn't done with pornographic intent but that the mangaka just got a little too GRIMDARK for his own good. Perhaps he really believes that getting raped by, like ... ten different people in completely different situations within the span of a week is what happens in the grim darkness of the middle ages/modern world.
thinks back
No, scrap that - it was definitely a lame attempt at porn, but even if it wasn't it's still stupid and unnecessary.
If you want messed up manga, there's plenty of it out there. Give this one a skip unless you're highly interested in medieval witch trials and such.

With an art and graphic design style similar to American comic books, it proved to be as expected, quite wordy. The narrative form of the first chapter slowed the progression considerably, but it was still a top quality chapter. I'm highly anticipating more!
I was so EXCITED when I read the summary, and when Illuminati-Manga scanslation group picked up the first chapter of this manga, I barely cant wait to read what happens next!!!1
The theme for this manga is FASCINATING!! *Witch-burning rituals..medieval times? Aztec?? Romans? Nazis? ...across history? *O-M--GG!!!! The artwork is awesome too..
If this manga is licensed, I could have purchased all 6 volumes without even thinking twice about it!
Please continue scanslating this potentially good series!
