Poor rating.

Poor comedy. Almost episodic chapters with unimaginative ideas. No progression.. The romance was bad: no progression no adversity.

Shoujo

My expectation level with this one was exceptionally low with this one as I began reading it thinking that the whole werewolf who turns into a girl during the full moon would be just a lame excuse to pair off two guys for some sexy time.

I was therefore pleasantly surprised that the plot was a bit more involved than that such that the vampire would probably be very happy if the werewolf just stayed female on a permanent basis. It does read on the whole like shoujo more than anything else as much of the plot involves the developing relationship between these two characters while everyone else tries to either push them together or pull them apart.

Fun, Engaging, Light-Hearted; Commited Characters

Rating: 9.0  / 10.0

From the down town New York police beat in Fake, to the fantasy world of werewolves, vampires and the rare gender-changing hybrid in this 2-tankobon long tale, she's got it all: humour, intrigue, an underlying romance, and emotions ranging from murderous envy to tender forgiveness.

The two main characters are devoted almost from the very start, even though Marlo is a bit rough around the edges in displaying his love. All the secondary characters stand on their own two feet with vivid personalities that weave around the main two characters in a true, believable fashion to really create a 'community' in this fantastical world of mysterious creatures and magic.

The art is full of 90s fashion and the manga illustration style of the era. If you liked, for example, CLAMP's earlier 80s/90s style such as RG Vega, this will appeal to you as well. Matoh-sensei's takes extreme care in some background scenes, watching for great detail. She also takes extreme care in a select outfit details as well. I, for one, found it titillating to see styles I ed portrayed so perfectly from the hair to the toes! Her extremely wide eyes and copious eyelashes are so dominate in some of the frames that I lost myself in the emotion of them.

I really liked the art of Marlo: even when he changed into a woman, you could still see his man characters only with softened edges (albeit, always bishounen). Speaking of artful, the English licence book is tangibly beautiful, published with thick, bright pages and and a clean print job.

This lassy sure knows how to write a fun, light-hearted story! And that is were her focus is: A fast-paced plot driven by the interwoven lives of the characters. Although ever present, she doesn't focus on the sexual intimacy; that part is always kept minimized. In fact, if you Dee and Ryo's final consummation in volume 7 of Fake, you'll know her style for intimacy scenes for this one as well.

I don't see why everyone is having such a big to do about it. He excepted Marlo whether he was a she or a he. I thought that was sweet, and didn't make the story any worse. And Marlo, being a normal person, why would he/she want to reject his love? It's perfectly normal to feel that way.

Get a life!

To everyone complaining "NO SHOUNEN AI!!! AHHHHHH EHHHHHH!!!!" need to get a life. How about you just read it for the story, not just so you can see two guys making love.

While Marlo was really whiny and resistant to Davids affections it was great in the scenes where he would nearly give in. Two volumes seems really safe to me, because it would be REALLY hard to veer off story and lose the audience. I read both volumes in about three hours and I really enjoyed it. My only real complaint was the lack of ACTUAL problems between Marlo and David. I would have preferred if, near the end, there had been some situation that nearly split Marlo and David before they realize how truly they loved each other and got together, living happily ever after. Also it felt really weird that, in between two chapters, it went from a year before the wedding to ten days before. We missed a WHOLE YEAR of antics. Matoh could have spread this out a couple more volumes and really dove into the pasts of both Marlo and David.

This manga was a story, not fan service. If that's what you are looking for than look somewhere else, but if you are looking for a quick satisfying story to read give it a go.

I probably shouldn't rate it because I haven't read this in a while, but like the people below have said, this really doesn't measure up to her other work. I don't the uke being that annoying, but I hated the ending and the fact that their "wedding night" was done on a full moon. Seemed like such a cop-out to me and unrealistic, pandering to the hetero-only market (meaning will only read hetero, not just hetero themselves ^^; ). I mean, what were they gonna do after they got married, only have sex once a month on a full moon?!?

i think the mangaka did what she did to attract the ppl who can't really read shonen ai and the ppl who really love it... b-cuz it's about 2 guys but the guy always turns into a chick so it's not much male/male stuff ergo u have a larger fan base... however i don't think that tatic worked bcuz there's not enough development for me (who doesn't really read shonen-ai xccept 4 loveless) and there isn't really enough shonen-ai for the ppl who enjoy that genre...

I could forgive the minimal shounen ai content, but there just wasn't enough going on between the main couple to really keep my interest, although I slogged through to the end. Overall, it was pretty disappointing, even though the storyline sounded intriguing. Where was the romance? Marlo came across as an irritant, not a sympathic hero/heroine, and it killed the story for me.
