⛔️ General Warnings for the story: >! involves scenes+themes of abuse and harassment (that’s all I can really recall atm). And some degree of abuse apologist scenes/behavior (I’m not sure how to tag for spoilers, sorry 😞 )
Earlier chapters and seeing how the couple fall in love is very sweet but...
Jfc 🤦… I enjoyed it most of it, but I don’t think I’ve got the patience to keep going. ML’s dad is constantly frustrating and that a-hole of an emperor sends my blood pressure skyrocketing 😡 I think 60 chapters is enough for me.
Gave it a 7 when I first read through. Props for some lovely and pretty consistent art, but the story brought the the score down for me 😕

It's a cute story. And the art is gorgeous. It doesn't need to be more than that. It's very slow and has many adorable moments, like it's a very slow build. I think some ppl were upset at the fact that these two kids were technically married/engaged from a young age and because of that were suppose to be in love all this time. But that's not realistic. I think this, where they are partners, friends and even fight like siblings, ing each other and lean on each other in tough times, is what two people would do in their situation. I just wish the story would CONTINUE bc it's been a while since the last chapter was published.
As a typical romance drama set in a fictional factioned aristocracy, Ellie (MC) has a drive and agency that is more typical of an isekai heroine. A lot of the events where she stands up for herself in typical ways of the genre (vs the father in law duke, vs the jealous relative, vs the manipulative royal, etc) are very one and done. She fights and the other party completely accepts the way she has treated them, even if she is leagues lower in class or relevance, due to the magic of fiction. The story also doesn't explain how she gains the audacity to fight or learns how to navigate newfound life as a duke's wife, chalking it up to Ellie just having a crusader personality and her own family being very ideal. Her relationship with Zachary, the main love interest and pitifully abused turned strong willed duke to be, is a good portrayal with a natural build up though. Ellie's maternal ideals influences Zachary to be protective, and they grow together into their own roles comfortably. The story never goes into any romantic aspects of their relationship, and we are expected to believe Zachary and Ellie are infatuated with each other despite Ellie kissing Zachary for the first time (on the cheek for that matter) after YEARS of living together. Zachary is also pretty one dimensional as a character, we never really see how he interacts with anyone but Ellie and the only times his personality change is to reinforce Ellie's presence/actions as a net positive.
The B plots are plenty interesting and keeps slowly introducing clues, such as the mysterious illness in the Duke's family or the relationship between the current Duke and Zachary's mother. The art is nice to look at and has more than enough details for a webtoon series.
