Machida-kun seems like the perfect brother, son, and student because he loves people. Helpful when he needs to be, but puts himself down when he feels like a total failure. However, the people that surround his daily life are there as a reminder as why Machida-kun needs no improvements because the people love Machida. 6i4x4u

He's so cool story is pretty simple guy just oozes charisma with doing menial work.. He should have a cult following tbh
I already read some of Ando Yuki's works so I had a feeling I would like this. It IS different tho. At first it was just really ridiculous and funny and this guy is so strange! But gradually, his charm - and the charm of the manga - wins you over. You feel inspired to be a little like Machida-kun. His world is so beautiful, probably too beautiful to be real, but still. You feel lucky to be able to see it through his eyes. I want a Machida-kun in my life.
And the romance is also really cute. Super slow burn. I'm SO happy for the girl haha! Took him long enough but he got there. 🙂 The ending is so perfect too- several of the characters he helps in the story make a little cameo.
Our titular character is the warmest and genuine person and all his interactions with other characters will melt your cold heart. The romance is so cute and I'm happy for them.
The main character is a idealised version of an empathetic and kind human being. This can be quite corny at the beginning, but the sheer heart of the series wins you over and you look beyond the corni-ness. The MC wins you over just like he wins over the people in his life. Short and satisfying read.
Machida makes for a perfect protagonist - he's fundamentally flawed, downright bad in both sports and studies, but his kindness and empathy make up for these shortcomings, and in interesting ways at that.
I also like stories about intrigues and betrayals, but a story as wholesome as this was a refreshing change of pace. There's nothing cynical here, nor even much conflict, and yet this story somehow works, anyway. It's just adorable to see the lives of random strangers get enriched through Machida's actions - because he doesn't consider them strangers, but rather friends or of his extended family. Lovely.

One of the absolute best manga I've read yet. It has the perfect balance of fluff, heartwarming moments, little dramas.. It is more or less a perfect manga. Period.
Where's the Machida-kun in my city?! I need one too! The ending! I wish there was an epilogue! I need future them! But basically I just need more Machida-kun! His tales of helping people are just sooooooo touching!
Machida is a good guy. A very interesting protag who grows as the story progresses. There is so much to love about his character.
The problem though is that he is the only real character in this manga. Everyone else feels like one-note boring characters. They do not grow, theres nothing interesting about them. They only feel like a tool used for the author grow Machida and to spout out some cheezy, motivational dialogue. Even the main female lead is just an echo to repeat the good qualities of Machida instead of being an actual character herself. Her character makes no sense, she apparently has some background story of constantly being picked up by guys so she follows them and manipulates them to buy her food and ditching them or something. But nothing in her character personality represents her backstory, she acts like a completely different person to one who would do such a thing. It was just a tool by the author to say a message.
Everything in this manga is so corny. I don't know if it is just bad translation but nobody in the real world talks and behaves like they do in the manga. Everyone spouts out some idealistic drivel. It makes sense for Machida to do it, I understand why his character does. But throughout the manga it uses the same format. Machida will have some trouble understanding someone, then he helps some random person, then the random person gives some motivational speech that Machida will then use to solve his problem.
Its like this is some simulated world where Machida is the only real person and everyone else is some weird AI where you can barely perceive theres just something a little bit off with them.
