I think this is a interesting story. But at the same time it's quite irritating.
First of all I like Yoshino quite a lot. She's the key part of the story,it really wouldn't be the same without her in the sense that she seems like the only morally sensible/common sensed person around(well, sometimes she is portrayed as crazy as kirishima, like she is actually twisted in nature, but in truth she isn't really..at least to me,i dont think that she is being irrational given the situation is all.),I guess it's to be expected since story revolves around yakuzas.I don't typically like toxic guy romances, cant stand them, but I could actually ignore it this time because Yoshino's reactions are really appropriate. That's exactly what I like about her character. She is levelheaded and rational. Also quite funny.
I pretty much hate kirishima, and the other guy (i forgot his name, yoshino's bodyguard?).They seriously make me gag and roll my eyes and ...toxic bad boys are seriously so cringe....But I it it is kinda satisfying that Yoshino tells him when he's gross,I like her honesty.
Though I have to add that story makes it obvious that he is toxic,it makes the readers aware he isn't normal and you shouldn't believe everything he says. But I'm not sure I buy that(actually I don't,I'm not that delusional. It does romanticize this shit.)
She doesn't really actively get into his business, like she continues with her life.Normally i wouldn't really be interested in her life(because let's be real, generally in romance stories it is just not that interesting.like I want to see FL and ML spend time together.it's not interesting when one of the leads goes like "I will stay away from you and just focus on my own life" but their life is fucking boring.Author doesn't get creative with their life outside of the relationship.Unless the story has a slice of life element though)but author makes it interesting, like learning other details about yakuza or having an unimportant but fun conversations and such.
It may seem like such insignificant thing, but the whole story is interesting because of the details like daily conversations, and how natural it sounds. And yakuza stuff seems realistic, that's also interesting.I guess the reason Kirishima doesnt get on my nerves THAT much(meaning that I can ignore him and enjoy the story) is because the atmosphere is really well established(I may have dragged this post for to just to make this simple statement).
Also I was actually quite suprised that even though they are highschoolers, school has such small presence in the story unlike most manga with highschooler protagonists.Yoshino is pretty much a loner in school but is feared because of her background which is kinda badass.Even though Yoshino is a pretty solid character on her own,her being paired with Kirishima really makes her an okay character for me,for that I can't really care about her that much in the end..(though I agree with other commenter ninakun who said "while the FL is cool she is not cooler than the average never back down heroine." It is exactly like that, but i think throughout the story there isn't really any other character that feels "normal" or at least kind of comionate or warm or whatever as her so we are kind of being starved for a normalcy,i think. It is a bummer that there isn't any normal and sweet character other than her.Everyone else is either suspicious or has a hidden agenda.)
Almost forgot to mention but like when someone pops their eyes to scare the other its pretty cringe...like was I supposed to ve intimidated??I dont if I ever was maybe I did at first found that shit cool or something but there is no way I will when its this repetitive...it's so embarrassing how am I supposed to take it seriously😂
Honestly the story part didnt deserve 5,but with kirishima and the other fuckboys(too many of them) in the picture..this is what it gets.(well what can you do,a story is nothing without its characters)
