This is so GOOD! Manga almost always refuses to touch real everyday life. That's not surprising. Manga is popular entertainment, and everyday life is normally doesn't seem very entertaining. Popular storytelling usually avoids everyday matters on this side of the Pacific too. You just can't help people get their minds off their everyday troubles by giving them more everydayness....unless, that is, you're capable of imagining characters who seem similar to the readers, and above all likable.
With such characters the writer is free to do anything. Kio, Shimoku, better known for his great manga about an otaku club of highly likable people, "Genshiken", here shows us how a couple in their early 20s struggle with their relationship. The manga is like being a fly on the wall watching these two interesting and smart people discovering themselves and each other. Almost everyone in their late 20s or older will have their own version of this story. I think most such readers will find this manga true to life and fascinating. As for younger readers, I believe most will find will find it a revelation. Everyday life is only uninteresting on the surface. Deep down, emotions make it dramatic and worth living.
