The hell that the FL had to go through was really bad. It messed her up big time, and she was innocent too. So she's still dealing with all of that trauma while trying to understand the conspiracies she was thrown into. I think the author is doing a good job so far portraying that. ML is pretty good too, has a very strong sense of realism while keeping him constantly thinking about possibilities. Like he thinks FL is sus sometimes but also sees that in that situation, she's really not a threat, so he'll go along with her. It's very sensible and I love both of their personalities.
