I watched the OVA's and the movie, and read the manga. 4i5r1y

for those who've read the light novels, can you guys tell me the timeline of these events on the light novels.
when I finished watching the movie, it felt like that was the end of the series, but then when I saw that the light novels has 14 volumes and were still ongoing, it kind of confused me.

help please.

Haven't watched the movie yet but according to someone on another forum the movie covers the first 8 novel volumes.
And on wikipedia it says the first 8 volumes are the main series and the other 5 volumes are short stories and side stories. I'm not sure why the novel is still ongoing if the main series is over. Maybe more side stories? I'm confused about that also.
