This is a simple but odd poll that was suggested by Shonaiula. In essence, it's about the medium score you would rate something. 17424d

You can submit poll ideas here
http://mangaupdates.sitesdebloques.biz/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Have you ever sung the lyrics of an anime's opening/ending out loud, while not watching it (even just a few words)?
Choices:
No (or I won't it to it) - votes: 824 (17.1%)
Yes, on purpose - votes: 2718 (56.5%)
Maybe, but not on purpose. It was just stuck in my head - votes: 1270 (26.4%)
There were 4812 total votes.
The poll ended: April 7th 2018

I still the first few OP/ED from Naruto

I tend to not rate at all if I'm indifferent about a series.

I go with 7.
7 is the lowest rating I would give to a manga that I read until the end. if a manga has a rating (my own rating) of anything below that, I wouldn't be able to finish that manga, and if I don't finish a manga, I wouldn't give it a rating.

I don't rate manga unless I really hated it, really liked it, or felt it was really memorable.

For anime, "average" series are usually a 5 or a 6 for me, depending on how bored I felt watching it. 6 is usually "boring but with at least a sparkle of goodness" while 5 is usually "boring but with a sparkle of badness". I guess a true "neutral" series would be rated 5.5, then, but MAL unfortunately doesn't allow decimal ratings (and I don't think I've ever rated a 5.5 for a manga).

There's only five rating I use in Mangaupdates, no rating means super bad, won't read it, 7 is pretty bad but I still read it, 8 is bad, 9 is neutral / kinda good, 10 is pretty good to super good mmm...

5, if there really is nothing to show basic quality that would make me worth going on at least by one more chapter. 50/100 is either an F or a -D, so it´s a failure state either way. Just you know, nothing worthy being angry about either. Or talking. Or showing emotion.
Good god are truly mediocre products forgettable.

Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grading_systems_by_country#North_America
Everything up to 48/100 is a failing grade in the US.

If i am neutral but don't dislike it then it is a 6 for me.

7.
Depending on the genre combo I may give it 8-8.5 as well.

  1. 7 would be more of, "It's decently good, but nothing great. Kind of meh."
6 is more of a, "It's kind of meh, but not bad."
5 is mediocre and it's kind of bothersome to finish the manga. If I rate something 5 or lower, it means that anything good the manga may have is overshadowed by its crappiness to a certain degree.

Don't really like how the poll is worded. If a series fails to make me feel something (ex. feel neutral), and that doesn't have to be limited to making me feel love or hate btw, then I would say it fails. Also I'm probably not going to finish it and therefore it doubly fails.

Now if we are talking about series that are mediocre in some way then that's a different thing to me. I generally give better series or ones that I like scores in the 8-10 range. Series that I find bad end up in the 1-3 range. Everything else is in the middle and runs the gamut from decent but flawed (usually a 7), mediocre with good elements (usually a 6), down to bland or mediocre with some irritating elements (usually 4-5). Really anything 5 or less is not good or worth spending time on.

I'd say 6. If I didn't hate it and I could finish it, then there's at least that going on for the manga. I don't understand why someone would rate a series, that didn't amount to anything, higher than 6. At least where I live, 7 is already considered a pretty good score, 8 means that something is great, 9 means that everything is great, and 10 means it is perfect. It's so weird that series on this site that have a 7-7.5 average score are often pretty bad, and in an objective way.

I’m with the 6-7ers. If I liked it enough to finish it, it’s a 7. There must have been some merit to it. Where it be the writing, characters or setting.

If I liked it enough to start it, but not finish it (not bad, just not interesting enough to continue right now), it’s a 5-6.

I don't bother finishing things I dislike anymore, so my neutral is probably a six.

I wouldn't usually finish a series that I think deserves a 5 or lower.

So that makes a big difference in my scoring. If I finish a series, and feel neutral about it, it's probably getting a 6 or maybe even a 7. It wasn't anything special, but it managed to keep me reading to the end.

However, if something is so bland that I drop it halfway through, or even sooner, it's never going to get higher than a 5. I think there are different levels of mediocrity, and not everything that I feel neutral towards necessarily deserves a straight up 5.

A series could be exceptionally mediocre, and a pain to read, or it could be derivative and predictable, but still slightly fun to read. In both cases, I would probably feel pretty neutral towards the series.

I've noticed that over the years, I've started rating manga harsher. In the past, I would give a 7.5 if I thought the manga was average. Now I would give it a 6.
