To be frank, i'm looking for a simple, you could say vanilla, love story that is heartwarming and on the lighter side of things. I want the relationship between the couple to be a major element in the story, and would appreciate it if it showed cute/lovey-dovey scenes between the two and/or couple growth.

I do not want too much heavy drama, especially those that involve major love triangles that drag on for so long, nor do i want too much of those annoying tropes that usually involve idiotic misunderstandings that somehow ends up changing the entire course of the relationship for the worse and makes you facepalm. A moderate level of drama is completely fine though, so long as it doesn't get heartbreaking.

I do not want stories that just end with a confession and leaves the rest up to the reader. I would either want it to go at least a bit further, or the couple could actually already be established from the start or the first few chapters or in the middle.

** Please Do Not give me anything that involves infidelity/cheating, netorare, rape, or any of those kinds of stuff.** Would like the couple to be serious about each other, so please No harems either.

The story can involve other genres, like supernatural or adventure or action, as long as the main couple's romance is shown and is a major element in the story. Or it can just be a pure romance story.

Most important of all, i want it to be a happy ending, meaning the guy and girl stay together in the end. I **really don't like open endings and bittersweet endings, they irk me like hell **. Bonus points if there are big relationship developments in the end, like marriage or children, though not a must (don't spoil in the rec pls 🙂 ). Of course the series would have to be completed for us to know this.

Lastly, i'm a dude, so please no ouran high school club or stuff of that sort. I would highly prefer it if it were a non-high school setting, but if you feel it fits the kind of romance i'm looking for, feel free to rec it anyway 🙂 . I personally like seinen, but the other genres (shoujo, josei, shounen) may have more of what i'm looking for, so i'm not particular with this. Nothing against people who enjoy Yaoi or Yuri, but i would like it to be straight thanks.

Best example of what i'm looking for are: Bonnouji, Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken, Yome ga Kore na mon de, Itoshi no Kana, Koi wo Suru no ga Shigoto desu, Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen, Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie, and Tsuki ga Kirei for anime.

As i've stated, i have searched and posted in MAL and Reddit, but most of what were recommended to me are stuff i have either already read/watched or something that does not fit my taste. I guess its just not too common for writers to make vanilla romance, especially in manga or anime.

Hmn I guess this is the only title I can offer that maaaybe es your taste. It has a high school setting but the girl is pretty much in the shrine most of the time anyway. For me, Bonnouji's romance has a lighter feel to it compared to this aaand you can expect some err "conflicts" but uhh probably only at the same level as Suki tte Ii Na Yo.

Oh and +1 on Dengeki Daisy

The romance is kinda slow though, but worth the ride.

Seconding Taisho Wotome Otogibanashi. I think it would be right up your alley. Here's the summary for it:

In this story set in the early 1920s, Tamahiko is the son of a wealthy family, but his life is changed forever when an accident cripples his right arm. No longer considered by his father as an heir, he is shuffled off into the country, to live out of sight. jared_dx_58, thank you for putting up this topic. I really love that kind of manga too. Too bad it's rather uncommon. So I was glad to read people's recommendations.
Guess I have nothing to add to the titles that were already mentioned, but in your list I noticed you highly scored Ai Yori Aoshi. Have you read Umi no Misaki (by the same author)? It's a high school harem, so technically it does not fit your requirements, but I would strongly recommend you trying it out nevertheless.
It does have romance and a lot of sweet moments. And I found it really heartwarming. The story presents a true development of relationships between the main character and each of the three girls. (And it is not considered cheating at all, since they all know and agree he has to choose one of the girls in the end. Still they are all serious about each other.) Set on a tropical paradise island, with no rivals, no love triangles, no stupid misunderstandings the story focuses on the feelings that grow up little by little. And there is also some supernatural/folklore element which gives the story an additional "flavour". I guess you may enjoy it, as much as I did.
