I love this story over all though.

Someone put it in the comments on the manga series page and that was actually the first I heard of it: The title is a reference to the song 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon (here's the song). A very good, funny song that actually has no thematic relation to this series that I can discern. So I think the author simply liked the song or liked how the title sounded for this series. (and to be fair, it is a very nice title for a series about two classmates of the opposite sex reuniting right before a natural disaster)
