Quick question: Why is this discussion being had on MU and not in the forums of MF? You'd think that would be the more "appropriate" place to have it, no? 3i5p1p

 1. Because they'll delete the post and ban my . 😉
 2. Because the intended audience is scanlators, and this is the most convenient place to find them.

For giggles, go and try to post a batoto link there. Share the results afterward.

Ah... I just ed something. I read this thread before but didn't think I had anything to contribute until now.

I the author of a blog called The Art of Manliness requested his readers to not block ads if they wanted the blog to continue to exist.

But we don’t make money on clicks, we make money on page impressions, that is, the ad simply showing up on the site.

http://artofmanliness.com/2011/05/27/how-advertising-works-on-the-art-of-manliness/

Then he linked to this article which explains the whole process more in depth:
http://arstechnica.com/business/news/2010/03/why-ad-blocking-is-devastating-to-the-sites-you-love.ars

So for instance, I whitelist batoto.com, but allow Ad-block to run on mangafox.com

I'm not too sure if this is how mangafox makes money, but this is what I as a leech can do 😀

The MF forum community is full of ignorant `tards who only care about when the next chapter of their favorite series is coming out. Sure, it would be more appropriate, but people wouldn't pay attention.

This is just another redundant thread for us (who know about scanlations, generally respect scanlators, and already know about the MF creators' shady business) bashing MF+s.

Not really. There are millions of other sites.
mangatraders is one of them.
I dont understand why so many people have such a problem with ing manga.
I cant read manga online, all the ads drive me insane.

Because many people don't have enough memmory for his pc or share just one with the family or just use their phones or don't have a good antivirus... there are plenty of reasons why people preffer online readers, so tumbs up for the scanlators that have online readers 😀 . TY...

IF you don't have good antivirus stay the hell away from Mangafox.

the ads will give you all sorts of things. you don't get that quantity of ads AND screen them to make sure they didn't include stupid viral cookies.

Anti spyware actually. its mostly spyware nowadays. no money in Virus.

+1

As for those of you arguing with ad-block.... that demands certain amount of intelligence that most leechers don't poses (+ mozilla or crhome).
Personally i'm pretty satisfied with what Japanzai does. For those that need a does of their manga asap anything will do, even watermarks as theirs, but they're still willing to offer better versions for those that can wait. And MF never waits, so.... (i'm not sure i agree with them encouraging hate though, for their regular readers its OK because thy know what's going on, not for any random byer).

There is still an option to bring this up with publisher if scanlaters and we the community are not able to solve this problem, MF has lots of licensed manga there as well so its not like publishers would be able to it if a vocal letter is addressed to them.
Considering publishers already send letters to them in the past, we know it won't solve the problem, or better said it'll be temporal, but if it'll happen often enough its bound that they'll at least lose many readers if nothing else.

Thank you for the IF because i was almost in a rage when i stop and re-read again your post, and yeah i have a good spyware/antivirus actually they don't cost that much, and again i repeat myself... IF the scanlators have a good online readers we can visit them instead of MF sadly most groups can 't afford that and batoto is still in progress to be an excellent online reader...

I'm no lawyer, but as I understand it, if the owner of a copyright decides to take legal action against a website like this, they should be able to shut it down and be awarded quite a large amount of money for damages. I think the reason this doesn't happen more often is that it's generally bad for customer relations to sue your customers, but if it became clear that the majority of the community actually wanted the publishers to sue mangafox....

Against this site?

No, it holds no material that infringes copyright, it simply reports releases ... it would be the same as charging a newspaper with Conspiracy because they reported a Robbery.

This is a FAIL argument.
When you read manga on online readers, you're still ing them. They're just not saved permanently onto your HDD ie. It's pretty much the same as ing a chapter/volume and deleting it after you've read it - but with less quality (usually) and more ad bullshit. The same pretty much goes with streaming videos online.

In fact, you're more prone to doing harm to your oh-so-beloved machine by reading online than ing. Rather than having to visit a file sharing service (MF, MU, FS etc. which are pretty freakin safe) ONCE per chapter/volume, you're visiting multiple pages, loading a bunch of ads along the way and who knows what you could pick up.

Your paranoia is misplaced.
