The mangaka was poking fun at one of her assistants for touching food displays to see if the food is real and then being grossed out when it was actually real food.

It was a shoujo and I read it like... at least 5 years ago. Based on what I used to read the most at the time it was probably smut, too. Sorry, that's all I can , hope someone can still help me identify.

Do you the style of the drawings? Or if the author was using some kind of avatar to represent people (like Arakawa Hiromu and Chika Umino use animals to represent themselves)?

Don't anything in particular stuck out about the drawings, but I'm sure it wasn't typical of the mangaka's usual style since those types of things are usually done with less care than the actual manga.
Figures were human, chibi I think.
