We shouldn't treat manga according to some tradition. Manga is born when Japan was in the period of losing it's own culture while westernizing. I don't really care if they do it or not, as long as it has the correct age rating.

But some manga that I bought here that were imported from the U.S. really have dumb age ratings, Suzuka and love hina both have 18+, even though love hina doesnt show nipples

that is because you are a pervert.

Well, yea but still shoudnt nipples add a year or two?
Are there any man nipples in Love Hina? I don't .

I can show my nipple and you won't increase the rating. <__<

Honestly I think you should be able to view a manga the way it was intended. Hence why I never read the stuff that comes to North America.

that's difficult for me, I mean sometimes a lot of pics draw them so 😔 , then we should edit them, but if they're not so perverted, let it be. 😀
In the past , in my country, publishers removed, erased or inserted other pics on hot scenes. that's really crazy.

I dont much care for any original censoring. If they felt it should be censored then fine. I will it though that I am a little irked when America tampers with the manga artwork. I know for a fact that certain mangas are altered to hide various parts.

But in the end there isn't anything you can really do about it. 😐

You saw how they censored pokemon? (there's a link here somewhere)
It really made me laugh...
What age group reads pokemon, anyway?
I didn't think small kids can afford those pricey manga...

Government censorship inhibits free speech. As I am not familiar with Japanese law, I don't know or understand their policies. But I must say, with the copious amount of H manga that I read (don't judge me), it makes me laugh when they censor the gonads of the characters, while still showing the sex act...

....

My mind seems to be wandering today.

Censoring hentai. That one really made me lol.
Come on IT'S PORN, DAMMIT!...do I need to explain any further?
People reading hentai are reading it exactly for the parts that are being censored out.
It's not like people who might be offended by the display of genitalia will ever read hentai -___-''.

Edit: just noticed the thread also referred to seinen, ecchi and not necessarily just to hentai. Then...eeeh, it's a difficult subject. I wouldn't want to read a good seinen only to flip a page and have my eyes greeted with a wonderful display of h-guru or something alike. But if it's regular genitalia, heck we all have them why the censor? (especially if the target audience is at people who most likely won't be offended by the violence and/or mature themes the series comes with).

I can understand why there's a wanting of total editing out of genital part, when the manga is licensed and is printed in somewhere else out of Japan, like China. Chinese raws tend to have the parts censored out.

But I find it weird and funny when all the censor is just a line drawn across the genital parts. XDDD Like that single line covers much of the part. What that black line does is actually draw more attention to the part.

I'm on the "I don't really care" side so censor doesn't affect me meh.

BTW, your poll's options are really limited. It doesn't have the "I don't really care" option. "I don't know?" doesn't equal to "I dont' care".
