It has caught my attention the fact that there is a separate entry for "Tomie Again" in the database. I, personally, don't consider this necessary and I thought in requesting its removal from the site but since this could cause some controversy I want to explain the reasons of doing so in this thread so all the s that are (or will be) seeking for some information about this series could find a good point of reference and hopefully answer all the doubts that they could have about this matter (as well as rectify or amend any inaccurate element or point presented, if it's necessary). 5s4s2e

The first Tomie story was published in the shoujo magazine Gekkan Halloween twenty years ago. (Specifically in the February edition of the aforementioned publication.)
In 1997, Tomie's stories were recompiled in the first two volumes of "Junji Ito's Museum of Terror":

*Tomie
*Shashin
*Seppun
*Yashiki
*Fukushuu
*Takitsubo

*Tomie Part 2
*Chikashitsu
*Gaka
*Ansatsu
*Mouhatsu
*Youjo

(Besides Museum of Terror, in 2000 Tomie was also published in a compilatory volume called "Tomie, The Complete of Tomie" -「富江」 (全)THE COMPLETE OF TOMIE-)

But here is where the problem lies:
In 2001, Junji Ito released seven new stories in a volume titled "Tomie (Again)Part3". In this moment, the database list it as a "sequel" title of the original Tomie , but for me they are just "extra" stories and it should be listed as such instead of being in a separate entry. The reasons are the following:
The first two volumes were named as "Tomie" and "Tomie PART2" and as them, "Tomie (Again)" was labeled as "Part3":

So I concluded that it was intended as a third part to the Tomie franchise, not as a sequel of it.
That point seems to be reinforced in the re-edition of Junji Ito's Museum of Terror published in 2002. This is the "Bunkoban" version of the old Museum of Terror published in 1997. (A Bunkoban is a collector's edition volume. It is smaller than the normal tankoubon and is printed on much better quality paper but more importantly, the number of bunkobans are about half of the regular tankoubon. That's why the original tankoubons of Museum of Terror are sixteen while the re-edition has only ten.)

In it, Tomie was "reissued" and like in the old version of Junji Ito's Museum of Terror the first two numbers were about Tomie but this time "Tomie (Again)" was included as a "bonus" content:

So, I'm going to ask for the removal of Tomie Again's entry and instead, I'll list it as a third volume of the Tomie's series. Any complaints?

I'm not totally sure if what I did was correct, but "Tomie Again" series entry is deleted
Edit the other Tomie one as much as you want (within the correct limits)

Oh, thank you lambchopsil.

Quote from lambchopsil

I'm not totally sure if what I did was correct

I know what you mean...
I've already listed Tomie with three volumes, 1 compilatory volume and 2 Bunkobans. But recently I have seen that other people also list "Tomie no kyoufu gaka" [ シリーズ富江の恐怖 画家] as part of the Tomie franchise. (Tomie no kyoufu gaka is a kind of "compilatory" volume that Asahi Sonorama released):

 • 画家 (Gaka)
 • 暗殺 (Ansatsu)
 • 毛髪 (Mouhatsu)
 • 養女 (Youjo)
 • 滝壷 (Takitsubo)

Tomie no kyoufu gaka was the first Tomie's compilatory tankoubon that was ever released (It was released in 1996, a year before "Museum of Terror") but the problem is that the first four stories (Gaka, ANsatsu, Mouhatsu, and Youjo) are the last ones of the second volume and the fifth one (Takitsubo) is the last one of the first volume. They practically took random stories of both volumes and put it together so I don't really know if I should put it in the country-of-origin status section. And if I do, how should I list it? because it's not a compilatory tankoubon or a normal issue (they're practically stand-alone chapters but the last one (takitsubo) doesn't really make sense without reading the first part of volume one or the "hospital saga" that is featured at the beginning of the second volume.)

I've seen that in order to deal with all this "mess" some pages make a separate entry for every Tomie tankoubon and label them as separate mangas. So, if we decide to do it here we'd have to create an entry for every tankoubon of Tomie released (We'd have to create an entry for the second tankoubon and name it "Tomie PART2", a third one for "Tomie Again", and if you consider it necessary, a fourth and a fifth one for "Tomie, The Complete of Tomie" and "Tomie no kyoufu gaka") but I don't really like that idea since doing so will create the notion that Tomie has multiple mangas (which isn't true, since every one of them are only one title).

So what do you think about this? Should I list Tomie no kyoufu gaka in the database (And if I do, how do you want me to do it) or leave it like that and put another note in the serie's description (for clarification)? Or should we create a separate entry for each tankoubon of Tomie released?

Just put everything into that one Tomie entry. If it's long, oh well, it's good. Some of the other entries for series are also long...so it's not much of a problem

All right, I'll do that then. And thanks for taking your time in answering my questions lambchopsil, I really appreciate it.
